Why we built it
Pink is the easiest color to get wrong. We kept to the quiet end of it, blush and pale pink, so every piece would look right on its own and better together.

The first thing they'll shake.
Liberty print cotton in cream, scattered with small birds and wildflowers, with white quilted ears, a pom-pom tail and a small bell tucked inside. About seven inches tall, with embroidered eyes and nose, and made in France.

A reversible jacquard sweater knit in 100% organic cotton, scattered with dancers whose tutus are knit in raised, textured yarn. Light and breathable, and sized at 30 by 42 inches for the crib, the stroller and the nursery floor.

The one piece in the box that's hers.
Homecourt's Steeped Rose: tea rose steeped in warm amber, over sandalwood and musk, in a velvety cream with shea butter that absorbs without residue. Kept by the sink, and kept for her.

Hand-knit in Peru from 100% cotton, twenty inches tall, with long floppy ears and a small embroidered nose. The regular size, so she's something to hold onto now and something to carry around later. Every one bought gives ten meals.
Sugar Paper, The Baby Book in Pale Pink
Where the first year gets written down.
A fabric-bound baby book in pale pink linen, foil-stamped on the cover, with prompts from pregnancy through the first year, spaces for photographs and a pocket at the back for keepsakes. The spiral is hidden in the spine, so it lies flat to write in. It arrives in its own keepsake box.
