The Library isn't a stack of baby books. It's the beginning of a child's bookshelf, chosen to be beautiful enough to live in the room now and substantial enough to grow into. Albers beside Basquiat, Ellsworth Kelly beside Frank Lloyd Wright, a tactile alphabet and a book that sends light across the walls. Some of it a baby can hold today, through color, shape, touch and light. Some of it waits on the shelf until the child is ready, and that's the point.
Why we built it
The Library is the Edit we built for the giver who wants to start a child's library for them rather than add to the pile. Every book brings its own subject, artist or way in, nothing repeats, and the whole row looks like the beginning of a very good bookshelf. For the classics, retold as first primers, there's The First Edition.
Good to know
- The Game of Light is for ages three and up, and the flashlight isn't included.
