For Her

the registry covers the baby. this is for her.

Six houses we keep coming back to, for the woman nobody adds to the list.

A registry is a list of what the baby needs, and it is a good list. It accounts for the bassinet, the bottles, the car seat installed in a parking lot by someone watching a video on their phone.

It does not account for what the first months take out of her, which is specific and which almost nobody names out loud. So we have organised this the way it actually happens.

her skin

Skin that behaved for thirty years and then stopped. It is hormonal, it is temporary, and it is still hers to live in every morning. What works is less, not more: a barrier balm, a clay mask, a night cream that does one thing well.

All for her
her skin

her hair

Hers is shedding, and nobody warned her it would. The fix is scalp-first and gentle, not the volumising shampoo she already owns. Founded by Babba Rivera, made without the harsh part.

All for her
her hair

her hands

Washed before every feed, after every change, more times a day than she will count. It is a small, unglamorous problem and it is genuinely miserable. It is also the easiest thing on this list to solve.

All for her
her hands

her hours

The chair, the dark, the one hand free. Silk against the side of her face that now spends most of its time on a pillow, and a fragrance she can still wear in a house that smells of laundry.

All for her
her hours
