The first real bath happens around the second or third week, once the umbilical stump is gone and the baby is old enough to be in actual water rather than wiped down. It is, almost without exception, photographed. Four pieces for that bath: the cape for after, the toy for during, the wash for the water, the lotion for the skin once she's wrapped up.

Why we built it

The First Bath is the Edit we built for the gift sent specifically for this moment — the bath that marks the end of the sponge-bath weeks and the start of actual baths. Four pieces, one ritual: the wash for the water, the toy for the few minutes of float, the cape for the wrap, the lotion for the skin. Sized as a single coherent gift rather than a starter kit.

The Rose in April Bath Cape is curator's choice across three soft-neutral colorways (Bouquet, Heart Blue Spray, or Heart Mustard) — selected for the Edit's overall palette, not customer-selectable, to keep the gift coherent. The Marlowe & Co bath toy is curator's choice from the brand's natural rubber range. The Wiley Body wash and lotion are the full-size baby formulations, both pediatrician-tested.
