Most of the day the new baby comes home belongs to the new baby. The Sibling is for the older one: something to build or pull along, a book about who they'll become, a bear of their own, and a small rattle to hand to the baby, so the first gift their new sibling receives comes from them.
What's inside
Maison Rue Barca Block Set or Riley City Blocks & Gems Set, for siblings three and up. Barca is twenty-one pieces of unpainted beech with nineteen acrylic cubes that sit in the windows and catch the light. Riley is three beechwood townhouses with twenty-five colored acrylic cubes and bars.
Friendly Toys Pastel Sausage Dog Pull Toy, in birch wood, for siblings under three, in place of the blocks.
The Wonderful Things You Will Be by Emily Winfield Martin, the picture book about who a child will grow up to be.
cuddle+kind Charlie the Honey Bear, Little, hand-knit in Peru. The friend on the bed.
Oioiooi Nice to Michu Rattle, maple and walnut with two wooden rings. The one the older child gives the baby.
Why we built it
The Sibling is the Edit we built for the parent who has already thought about how the older child will feel. It's chosen by age rather than by gender, so the blocks go to the child old enough for them and the pull toy to the one who isn't yet.
Sizing and selection
- Three and up, Barca or Riley, chosen above. Both sets contain small parts
